Daily writing prompt
Write about a time when you didn’t take action but wish you had. What would you do differently?
He had my mother on the ground and punched her until she was unconscious. Although I’d jumped on his back and pummeled him with my fists, my six-year old hands registered less than an unheard whisper.
Sometimes the actions we take are so lacking in expected effectiveness that we are compelled to overlook the value hidden between impact and effort to believe that outcomes are defined by movement while things that are motionless merit little to no fanfare.
Rather than imagining how I might have done it differently, I like to think that learning how to scream provokes a hope that might give cause to each moment in time.
