every ritual is an executioner, and every executioner is a companion that pays for our time in currencies of joy and sorrow.

incense, music, affection, gratitude, hope – this is the common theme 4-5 days a week.

sorrow, stillness, solitude – this takes up the remainder.

the finality of life teases the heart at a regular pace, like a clock with no face, and under his eye there creeps an occasional sense of failure, that rests near a sense of accomplishment born of participation and inexplicable reluctance.
